Litter pickers are far from rubbish

4:30pm Friday 10th February 2012

COUNCIL litter pickers have been praised for their efficient response to reports of roadside rubbish.

Parish councillors from Ripple, near Upton-upon-Severn, contacted Malvern Hills District Council with concerns over the amount of litter along the main A4104 and A38 roads.

Parish clerk Lorna Gower said they were delighted when MHDC staff turned up without delay and spent three days collecting more than 40 bin liners of rubbish.

Coun Bronwen Behan, responsible for environmental control at MHDC, said: “We are extremely pleased to hear that our litter picking work is appreciated and grateful to Ripple Parish Council for taking the time to praise the recent litter clearance undertaken within the area.

“Our litter picking team works hard, come rain or shine, all year round to keep the district clean and safe and I know that they will be very encouraged by the fact that their efforts are noticed by our resident."
