Sainsbury's application turned down

SUPERMARKET giant Sainsbury's plan for a new store in Ledbury has been rejected by Herefordshire councillors.

At this morning's meeting of the council's planning committee, members voted 12-6 to back the officers’ recommendation to throw the plan out.

Sainsbury’s had applied for permission to build the store off Leadon Way, on land currently occupied by the Galebreakers factory.

The application has proved divisive in Ledbury, with organised groups both supporting and opposing it.
