Help with VAT if you are a new employer
2:43pm Monday 13th February 2012
AN event to help new employers is being organised by HM Revenue & Customs in Worcester.
The Employer and Business Event is aimed at people starting out as an employer, newly VAT registered or self-employed, and is one of a series planned for locations across the UK.
It provides an opportunity to learn about the obligations of a business from its earliest stages, the help available, and to consider what might be required as it becomes successful.
It will take place on Thursday, March 1, at the Charles Hastings Education Centre, Worcestershire Royal Hospital and will run from 09.15am to 3.30pm.
Laurence Walford, events team leader for HMRC, said: “This event is a ‘not to be missed’ opportunity to get on track from the earliest days of a business. Our advisers will discuss the nature of the business and explain what’s required as well as how we can help now and in the future.
“That might include advice on payroll for those taking on new staff, getting to grips with online filing, or setting up a limited company.
“We’ll also be explaining how VAT works, and talking about the various schemes and initiatives that can support businesses and ease the administrative burden.”
During the day there will be eight 30-minute presentations. With the Olympics just around the corner, one seminar will look at competing for commercial opportunities around the London 2012 venues and training camps. Other seminar topics include first steps as an employer, the basics of VAT and how to form a private limited company.
All the presentations run alongside a small exhibition area where advisers will be on hand to offer one-to-one, structured advice.
Attendance is free.
