THE Paperstation Malvern League host their individual championships on Sunday, February 26, at The Forum, Malvern Theatres.
More than 60 competitors will take part, including most of the top players from Malvern, Ledbury, Worcester and Hereford.
Junior Michael Siket defends his title in the main singles as top seed with Dave White ranked number two.
The other seeds are Wayne Chopping, Nigel Foreshew, Brett Brining, Chris Hewitt, Harry Jutle and Ady Marshall.
Events will include the veterans over 40s, ladies’ and junior singles and main and mixed doubles.
There will also be singles and doubles restricted to players from Division Two.
In the afternoon, there will be a competition for youngsters from the league’s coaching club which is held on Sunday evenings at Dyson Perrins Academy.
Play begins at 9am with the finals due at around 6pm.
Spectators are welcome to watch from the Forum balcony.
Meanwhile, in Division One, Broadheath Belters went five points clear at the top following a 9-1 win over two-player Manor Park Cavaliers.
Siket and Sasha Grokhotov maintained their 100 per cent season averages by winning their two singles and the doubles, while Mike Keeley saved the whitewash.
Ledbury Collection stay in third place following a 9-1 win over two-player Manor Park Pumas.
Foreshew and Marshall both won their two singles and the doubles.
CSSC Ramblers beat YMCA Vulcans 7-3 as Alan Salisbury and Graham Thompson both took their three singles.
For Vulcans, Beryl Shamon won her first set of the season as did debutant Richard Bennett. In the doubles, Bennett and John Cawthra claimed a good win.
Manor Park Travellers have a fighting chance of avoiding relegation following a 10-0 win over fellow strugglers YMCA Vulcans.
Martin Snee, Stewart Moss and Toby Wren won their three singles with Snee and Moss also winning the doubles.
In Division Two, another threepoint 10-0 win for the Scuttling Gang put them four points ahead at the top.
Bill Smith, Ray Davies and Don James were the winning trio, while Tom James was the best player for Tornados.
In Tornados’ other game, James saved the whitewash against XPolice by winning one set in a 9-1 loss.
Abbeydowne’s 7-3 defeat to Manor Park Crackpots could have been different if Bill Lucas had not withdrawn late on due to illness.
Stephen Lindner won all his singles and the doubles with Will Jones, who won two singles, while Len Hitchman replied with two successes.
In a 9-1 loss to CSSC Nomads, Lucas was well enough to secure one triumph but Tony Hughes and Dave Hayes won all their sets and the doubles for the victors.
